Shadows on the Carpet I

With all the company from the Czech Republic coming and going, I have not had much time to work on getting the book ready for publication.  But I am making some slow progress.

Sharing the revised front cover for the 1st book of the Shadows on the Carpet Trilogy.  I have finished making the manuscript adjustments and am now being challenged getting the book cover to look the way I want it to.

Rhythm on 22nd 10 year Reunion Jam

On a lighter note....

The band I managed and wrote lyrics for is having a 10 year Reunion Jam
on
 Saturday, March 22, 2014  - 8pm
at
Klas Restaurant
5734 W. Cermak Road

Below are the 4 official configurations of the band.  In  between, there have been several other different drummers that also played with them as well as special guests (bass, flute, sax, guitar/midi guitar and vocals) and background singers (awesome female lead singers from other bands and great supportive friends) and then there was one who crashed our fundraiser with his harp playing on our brand new original songs and totally throwing the band off.

Airport Ordeal - A Bit of a Rant

I am just getting over a major fibromyalgia flare up from all the stress last Friday.  The pain from the flare up kept waking me up and I was in pain even in my dreams. The flare up included the need to stay close to the bathroom for one and a half days in part because my schedule of taking probiotics, supplements and meals at specific times was thrown way off on Friday's stressful day at the airport. I had left the house around 2:15pm and with 4 hrs. at the airport, hitting mega traffic on the way home and needing to make a quick stop to see someone at a location close to the airport I didn't make it home til almost 9pm.

Airport Ordeal
I am appalled at what immigration (now called ‘Homeland Security’) put my niece (and me) through just because she had just been here legally from the Czech Republic to visit for 3 months recently and was returning legally to visit for another 3 months (we had hoped she could come for 6 months but she couldn’t make arrangements to be away from home that long). They made her wait in a room with others for 3 hours before they called her in to ask her some questions. While she was waiting, people that had been brought in with her and after her were either given their passports back and told to go or called in for questioning while she was left sitting there wondering what was going to happen to her. I was sick with worry waiting for her and wondering what had happened to her (they don’t let anyone know what is going on but my niece was able to get a text to me so I would know that she was being led away and put into a room). She had a letter from me explaining why she was returning so soon (to help me with my elderly parents needs) but she wasn’t given the opportunity to present it until the questioning (which took all of 10 minutes and included a search of her luggage) after 3 hours of being held.  Regardless, she was entering the US legally to visit with family, and as far as I know, there is no law or even policy that puts time limits on legal visits. Meanwhile, my tax dollars are helping to support illegals from Mexico by providing medical care, education for their children, etc. - all supported by our government. What is wrong with this picture?
