Children of Tomorrow

Sharing one of my social commentary poems from Shadows on the Carpet I

CHILDREN OF TOMORROW
From you - our future
From you - we borrow
You are the children
Of all our sorrow

Children of tomorrow
In the aftermath of today
What will you do?
What will you say?

Children of tomorrow
Ours in every way
What are your horrors?
What price will you pay?

Children of tomorrow
Living with our legacy
Can you survive?
Can you stay free?

From you - our future
From you - we borrow
You are the children
Of all our sorrow

Alive in Wonderland

I realized, the other day, that I had written 19 Poemhunter inspired poems and then I wrote 2 more.  I will be re-posting those poems to PH one at a time and I will endeavor to add my own audio to some - so far the audio doesn't seem to be taking.

FYI, I am grateful for the Poemhunter website.  It was the PH forum that taught me not to take criticism so personally and helped me overcome my fear of sharing my poetic ‘babies’.  The poets I have met and continue to meet on this site have left indelible marks on my writing by their example, encouragement, critiques, comments and forum discourses.  I have to credit the PH forum for inspiring me to write a good many of my social/political commentary poems.  This poem is part of "Shadows on the Carpet I", '
Visions' section (inspired by the PH forum).

ALIVE IN WONDERLAND

Going down the rabbit hole
Ravages one’s eternal soul
Shrinking it down very small
Blowing it up nine feet tall

Living in Wonderland
Not having the upper hand
A life with integrity
It’s not so easy

Listening to the queen of hearts
Scream about some stolen tarts
More tea parties to be had
Thinking that you’re going mad

Being the underdog
Listening to a pedagogue
Say: “Live with integrity”
It’s not so easy

Floating through the looking glass
See distortion as you pass
A pathetic figurine
Wants to be a real queen

Alive in Wonderland
Where life is never bland
Living with integrity
Is not so easy

Soul Work

I have approved "Shadows on the Carpet III" for publication.  Sharing Soul Work from the 'Release' section of the book.  I am also sharing "Work of the Soul" audio - my lyrics & Ciba's music performed by Rhythm on 22nd.  Hope you enjoy!

SOUL WORK

The reflections of

her yesterdays
stare back at her
ghosts of unresolved
desires haunt her
and she navigates
the waterways
of tears as she
seeks to exorcise
the demons that
plague her present

A Wasted Life

Today I will be sharing a poem I wrote about a surreal day I had once.  I recorded it and Turkish Acidplanet artist, mumu mixed it into her music. This poem is included in "Shadows on the Carpet III" - 'Condemned' section.

A Wasted Life

Dusty letters caressed as ribbons cascade
A few photos with frayed edges
These he cherishes more
Than his wife or mistresses

Books from the shelves strewn about in a rage
Locket of hair nowhere to be found
Groveling on the floor
The imposter is dethroned

The adult male petulant, whiny - eyes crazed
In front of his mistress he kisses
The woman he’s longed for
Over whom he obsesses

He exits in an alcohol induced haze
No respite from this reign of pain
Tears cause him to roar
The years are lost in the rain
