Summer Green

Hot, humid

August day

Blue burnished

Cloudless sky

Cool, crisp fronds

Restful, fresh

Clean, clear spears

Summer green

Halloween Stroll

Crackle, crackle

Dusty shadows

Crunch and cackle

Follow hollow

Pounding footsteps

Cracks of thunder

Broken branches

Over, under

Snap and scream

Spooky Doppler

The Big Bopper

Sings Chantilly lace

And a pretty face

But I digress

As trees undress

On this unholy

Wooded path

To who knows where

I stroll and stare

At the murky water

The misted river

Seems to swerve

Around the curve

Of my pretty neck

As I do swear

This wretched dream

Will be my last trek

Unnerved through this

Forest preserve

On Halloween

I have received the proof of "Shadows on the Carpet II" and need to make just 1 small adjustment.  While I do that, I will share 'Snapshot in Time' from the Torment section of the book along with the photograph that inspired it.  The photo was taken by my photographer friend, Michaela Varekova.

Lost in Space

As we traverse

the bumpy terrain

of life – sometimes

we stumble upon

A clear path

to the unknown

but are afraid to

change direction

To embrace this

new road to our

true destiny

instead we wander

Aimlessly through

familiar territory

losing ourselves

in a fog of

Forgetfulness

Cornered Tumbleweed

Dried ecru tumbleweed

Wind driven tangled baskets

Rolling along for miles

Finally corralled and

Herded into a corner
