Shadows on the Carpet I is now available on Amazon!!!  I just don't understand why they have tagged a book of relationship/social/political commentary poems as suitable for age range 1 - 17 and grade level 1 and up????

Featured Reader - Tamale Hut Cafe Reading Series

I will be May's Featured Reader at the Tamale Hut Cafe Reading Series!  I will be reading from Shadows on the Carpet I, The T. Lost in Space

As we traverse

the bumpy terrain

of life – sometimes

we stumble upon

A clear path

to the unknown

but are afraid to

change direction

To embrace this

new road to our

true destiny

instead we wander

Aimlessly through

familiar territory

losing ourselves

in a fog of

Forgetfulness

Wind driven tangled baskets

Rolling along for miles

Finally corralled and

Herded into a corner

Waiting Hearts - Views from a Plane

Before I left for Nevada, I shared my poem 'Pulled Away' (January 2013) from my ongoing Views from a Plane series.  Today, I would like to share one of the new poems that I wrote on my way to Nevada (April 15, 2014) along with a photo of the view that inspired it.

Waiting Hearts

Silvery threads

Embroidered onto

Patches of quilt

Abstract pattern of

Lines and squiggles

Hides beneath clouds

As I am taken

To eager hearts

In the distant west

And you must wait

Alone at home for

Me to return

Shadows on the Carpet I

I have finally finished the cover for "Shadows on the Carpet I".  I was not able to work on it while I was in Nevada visiting my grandchildren because neither my son's nor my daughter-in-law's computer worked.  I just submitted it for approval.  I pray that I will be able to get copies of the book in time for the Tamale Hut Cafe Reading Series where I will be the featured reader for May.  If not, I will just read from "The T. Collection" and I still have a few of  "Dearest and Most Precious: A Love Journal" left.  I would like to include "Shadows on the Carpet I" if I could.  That way, I will have something for my readers' varied tastes.

Pulled Away

I leave you

Behind as

I take wing

And fly high

Soar through the

Sky spreading

My wings with

Abandon

Untethered

Freedom flight

Delights my

Weary heart

As my soul

Prepares to

Be refreshed

By small hands

That pull me

Toward joy filled

Wonder and

Strengthen me

With hope and

Clarity

For when I

Return home
